The Journal of International Security welcomes submissions on all aspects of security affairs in English. Articles submitted should be original contributions and should not be under consideration for any other publication at the same time. If another version of the article is under consideration by another publication, or has been, or will be published elsewhere, authors should indicate this clearly at the time of submission.
Manuscripts should be typewritten on one side only and double-spaced with ample margins. All pages, including notes (numbered at the end), maps, references, tabular material and appendices, should be numbered consecutively. The editors suggest 8,000-12,000 words as the appropriate length.
All diagrams, charts and graphs should be referred to as figures and consecutively numbered. Tables should be kept to a minimum and contain only essential data. Each figure and table must be given an Arabic numeral, followed by a heading, and be referred to in the text.
Details of the authorfs institutional affiliation, full address and other contact information should be included on a separate cover sheet. Any acknowledgements should be included on the cover sheet as should a note of the exact length of the article in words. Review is facilitated by inclusion of a brief abstract, and is further eased if authors refrain from identifying themselves in their manuscripts (e.g., with first-person references to their own previous work in notes), or will tag or make note of each place in which the author is identified.
Articles should be submitted on high density 3.5 inch disks in Microsoft WORD (.doc) or Justsystem ICHITARO (.jtd) format together with a hard copy. Any diagrams or maps should be copied separately in uncompressed (.tif) or (.jpg) formats. These should be prepared in black and white. Tints should be avoided, use open patterns instead. If maps and diagrams cannot be prepared electronically, they should be presented on good quality white paper.
As indicated below, each disk and file should be labeled with the article title, type (article or book review), author's name, submission date, and format used.
Ethics of Aerial Bombardment (Article, Thomas Douhet, 2010.12.8).doc
Normally, the process of review and publication takes about six months. Authors are entitled to 40 free off-prints and a copy of the issue in which their article appears.
